ABOUT ME
. . . . . . . .
I'm just an everyday girl. . . .
With a passion. . . .
AND A cHILDHOOD DREAM. |
My name is Stacy Turner. I am a DIY explorer, hands on designer, and show organizer. I started in the Spring of '09 on a voyage seeking a hobby, and turned into a passion for creativeness. From everyday use to special events: weddings, birthdays, baby showers. My collection offers personal and detailed designs, something stores can't provide. Everything is made from the bare essentials, making it possible to be unique and cost effective for potential clients.
As a child growing up I wanted to be in business, creating and displaying my own work and helping others present their own: I would invision myself with a black portfolio filled with paper work, walking with a purpose and a hot coffee in hand in downtown Chicago on a fall afternoon wearing a black long coat and a slightly pink nose. My childhood dream first came into reach when I was 17. I organized a product show with local small business vendors in the basement of my parents house. My family and a few friends of friends came to check it out. In 2009 I started on my second dream of creating and selling my own work. I wasn't sure of where my niche was so I started with soy candles, because I knew I could personalize them, and sell them for less than store bought candles. My husband built a cedar sign for my display and really helped put a nice touch to my booth. Over time I experimented with other crafts and events. In 2011 I began to organize events at the Hilton hotel. I wanted to do what I felt other events were missing. I would go to bed at night thinking of what I can do next and how I can do it. In the morning I would collect my thoughts together and put the pieces in place. I had numerous trial and errors but I always found my own way and technique of making it better. My work and passions thrive on detail, personalization, and being unique. That is what makes Zoëy's Collection. I have reached my goals, my vision of design and walking with my portfolio and a hot coffee in hand. My dedication does not stop there, until you are happy with what you invision. |

On a More Personal NoteI'm 33 years old--scratch that "young", happily married to a wonderful man by the name of Dan, I have 2 human step-kids Megan and Ryan, and five legged little ones of my own Aidan, Zoey, Max, Grace and Gretchen. I grew up in Chicago, and am now residing in the pleasant suburb of Yorkville, IL. I work from home growing my passion and am always creating something new for our home. When I'm not being a craft guru: I'm cleaning, cooking, getting inspired by new and old trends, cuddling with my pets, or spending time and working with my husband who owns a landscape business...I really don't mind getting my hands dirty! In fact, its not as much fun if they aren't covered in dirt, glue, wax, paint, stickers, or whatever I may be using. I am more intuned with my work without gloves. I find it motivating to see my working hands create something special. And every piece is specially made. |
I'm currently working on my BS in Psychology and also love to travel and explore different cultures. My husband is a private pilot and one of my favorite things to do is take a short flight somewhere for lunch. So far we have flown from Chicago to the east coast of North Carolina in a Piper Archer and have stopped at many hidden, almost forgotten airports. We have seen the majestic beauty of the far west Polynesian waters to the touch of the Irish Sea. The world truly is an endless canvas.
